As an artisan, I work in fused and flame worked glass to make beads and buttons. I also create jewelry incorporating my own work as well as semi precious stones, crystals utilizing a variety of jewlery making techniques.
Fused glass involves layers of cut glass fused together in a kiln at approximately 1450°. Most of my work is made using the fusing process and many pieces incorporate dichroic glass, or glass that appears to be two colors when viewed from different angles. It is super sparkly and presents in a rainbow of colors and patterns.
Flame working utilizes a torch to melt and shape glass rods into a variety of objects. Glass beads are frequently made this way. I specalize in using Moretti glass — glass used by the glass makers on the Venetian island of Murano. I also work with borosilicate glass, commonly known as Pyrex. There are infinite ways of shaping beads; decorating beads; and incorporating gold, silver, and dichroic glass into beads.
Special orders accepted and are suggested for bracelets in particular so that they can be made to size and color preferences.
